    Ed, your playing is jaw dropping to me! Your technique is amazing and I believe pretty unique. In trying to exercise this rhythm, the hardest thing I struggle with is stacking my breathing. I just can’t exhale enough to keep going for long. How do you release enough air to keep going? Thanks

    • @TheHarmonicaBarge
      @TheHarmonicaBarge 5 днів тому

      Thanks so much for the compliments! Yes the air intake factor is tricky. Try and really use the out breath to get that air out ( without it sounding like you're doing it:) you can also try and get a bit out your nose when you breathe out - this may help. And build up the stamina, keep adding 10 secs- say play for 30 secs, then 40 etc till you're up to a minute

    At 1:55 "...there's something about the Marine Band that's a little bit crap..." That cracked me up, yes! I hate sharp edges on harmonicas! Mostly play Hohner Rockets for Richter tuning and Seydel Orchestra S for solo tuning. But for my other odds and ends harps, I round the corners off. It'd been a while since I'd gotten any new harps, but I got a few cheap ones in the mail yesterday for my "spares/stays-at-school" box. I wasn't expecting the best tone and response, but got really grumpy at the corners. How hard is it for manufacturers to round off the corners of their plastic molds? Ah, well! Thanks for the video. I'm looking forward to trying a DaBell. I'd love to see a follow-up video of you revisiting these two after you've set up the DaBell properly as you have your Hohner.

    • @TheHarmonicaBarge
      @TheHarmonicaBarge 16 днів тому

      ha yes I know what you mean! I started sanding the corners a bit which certainly helps. Nice idea to do a follow up video, the only problem is the dabell uses phosphor bronze reeds and I just think I prefer to work on brass. I've not really worked on PB reeds much.

    I played the harp 40 years ago. I have retired and my wife plays bluegrass/folk now. I will eventually get all 12 keys, but I just ordered a low D because my old D was toast. I do like being in the background so I am not interested in"standing out". I play in a jam that does a lot of "Dead" in Am. What key harp for 2nd position do I need? Thanks, Bob

    • @TheHarmonicaBarge
      @TheHarmonicaBarge 25 днів тому

      Hi Bob, Good to hear your harmonica story. Obvious choice would be a G Harp played in 3rd Position. I would also try an F Harp or Low F played in 5th position depending on what the song is. good luck :)
